Hannah is continuing to improve. Yesterday she came off the ventilator onto the CPAP. That is progress. I talked briefly to the doctor today. She feels that she'll be on the CPAP for a couple more days - not quite strong enough to go onto a nasal canula. She's still breathing fast:( She'll be on the antibiotics through Saturday. That didn't come as a surprise. This morning they decided to put her on a blanket for jaundice. She's all lit up! Abby was treated for jaundice as well so, again, not really a surprise - pretty routine. Yesterday she had another big step in that she started some feedings. With the CPAP she can't take a bottle or breast feed, but at least the nurses were able to give her milk through a feeding tube straight to her stomach. She's been receiving IV nutrients, but it has got to feel good for her to have her belly getting something. Over night the feedings were increased. She has had no trouble tolerating them. So...bottom line - she is making improvements across the board. I wish they were coming a bit more quickly, but she is not going backwards and what a blessing that is! When I talked to the doctor midday today she was genuinely pleased with the progress Hannah has made and that was very reassuring!
PS The other night at dinner, Mike and I were commenting on patience (and in some cases, the lack of it) in us and our children. It was a very humorous conversation. We love this video. I am pretty sure I need to be more of a 2 marshmallow girl in lots of things!
